You’re here because you’re curious about what it means to build a box, and potentially also to hear more about the film we’re making. 

The film we plan to make is about the process of building a coffin for a loved one in the days after they have passed away. Our central character, grief counsellor Brent Goerz, has made it his mission to guide individuals through this unique and beautiful process. The film will explore the stories and motivations of both Brent and the eventual box builders. The film will explore the grief journeys of our central characters (including Brent), honouring and holding space for their unique experiences, but also seeking to find universal truths within their shared experiences of grief. We’re also looking to explore how the process of building the box can help our contributors find acceptance and ultimately meaning within their grief journey. 

As a team, we know that grief is one of the most difficult things to go through, we recognize that it can be deeply personal, complicated and raw. We’ve set out into this process to build strong relationships and support the people that we end up working with. We believe that sharing this experience will be a powerful act—one that fosters connection, understanding, and healing for both those involved and the film's eventual audience.
